Cala Murta

May 23, 2019

Mallorca is one of the most popular destinations for chartering luxury yachts in summer. We are not surprised, because the Balearic island offers many picturesque and lonely bays. One of them is the Cala Murta in the north of Mallorca on the peninsula Formentor.

Cala Murta is a beautiful and idyllic natural bay in paradisiacal surroundings, framed by impressive cliffs and reminds of a Minifjord. This spectacular "S" shaped sea inlet goes up to 180 metres inland! The most original feature of this bay, however, is the presence of a freshwater fountain from the Drac caves. The small gravel bay is only 85 m long and 25 m wide and the water is crystal clear and turquoise blue, making it perfect for snorkelling.

Due to its unique location, it is particularly sheltered from the wind and offers an excellent anchorage for your yacht holiday on the Balearic Islands. About 100 metres off the coast the average depth is four metres. 100 metres further towards the mouth, the depth is about eight metres.

It is a quiet place where you can enjoy nature, so we recommend Cala Murta to all those who are looking for peace and relaxation on their yacht in paradisiacal surroundings, far away from the tourist hustle and bustle.
The nearest town, Port de Pollença, is about 14 kilometres from Cala Murta. There are no sunbeds and umbrellas to rent in the isolated bay and there are no gastronomic facilities. There are only a few wooden picnic tables. If you are planning a longer stay in the picturesque bay, it is best to take food and drinks with you in a cool box.
